About Us
The Yurok Tribe is currently the largest Tribe in California, with more than 6,000 enrolled members. They inhabited over 490,000 acres of ancestral lands along the Lower Klamath and Trinity Rivers, since time immemorial (Noohl Hee-Kon). The present Yurok Reservation is comprised of roughly 56,000 acres and follows the Lower Klamath River for roughly 48-miles, extending from the Bluff Creek drainage basin near Weitchpec to the mouth of the Klamath River at Requa. Their history tells of struggles to retain their land, hold onto culture, and just stay alive.
